De Machienerie has been a Flemish pioneer in the development of a playing style built around poetic theatrical installations. The organisation functions not only as a construction workshop but also as a production house for its own performances.
De Machienerie likes to refer to the figure of the Bricoleur Poetique (poetic tinker). The path of the Bricoleur Poetique is one which combines craft with aesthetics and poetry, and for De Machienerie it’s a perfect label for their unique way of working, the combination of all the different crafts they draw upon, be it welding, electricity, woodworking, theatre, circus or scenographic design.
