In Oui. Non. Attention., a group of ten young acrobats draws your attention to… attention itself. Not only the edge-of-your-seat attention sparked by breathtaking feats such as standing three levels high or a spectacular fall that narrowly ends well, but also the attention given to the gaze, the breathing, and perhaps the hesitation that precede them. Attentive awareness. Caring concentration.

Guided by circus makers Hanna Mampuys and Toon Van Gramberen, the young performers invite you to come closer. Drifting off in the back row is simply not an option: the audience is seated right beside the action, in a unique grandstand arrangement surrounding the acrobats on stage. Right before your eyes, dance and partner acrobatics merge into a collective language.

You discover the performers’ intense attentiveness towards one another, and the particular form of focus that acrobatics demands from each partner. You notice the subtle physical signals that help them find balance and strength together. Nothing escapes your attention… (Good.)

And if your concentration does begin to drift, you are effortlessly drawn back into the performance by the jazzy-folky sounds of Abel Ghekiere.
