At the center of EZRA is a motorized rotating platform - a "spinning plate"- measuring 80 cm in diameter. Constructed from wood and metal and positioned low to the ground, this platform rotates continuously throughout the performance.
Two performers remain on this small surface, tightly bound together in motion. As the platform spins rapidly, their movements contrast by remaining deliberate, slow, and controlled. This interplay between the relentless rotation and the performers’ calm, intentional actions creates a fascinating tension. The performers hold on to each other, climb, balance, and morph into dynamic shapes, appearing to hover above the ground in a self-contained, almost dreamlike bubble. The spinning isolates them from their surroundings, evoking an otherworldly sense of detachment while emphasizing their interdependence.
EZRA will premier in October 2027 at Theater op de Markt in Pelt, Belgium.
